The scorer of the second goal for the Blancos feels his side performed in a professional manner on the night, while putting on a convincing display against the Dutch champions.

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has commended his team's winning mentality, after cruising to a comfortable 3-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Speaking after the match at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Argentine forward claimed that Jose Mourinho's men played with professionalism, albeit in the knowledge of already securing the winners spot in Group D.

"Although we knew we had already qualified, we played with pride and prestige," said Higuain. "I think the first half was harder, but we won, and convincingly."

Higuain was then quizzed on the forthcoming Clasico derby over the weekend, and despite remaining coy over the prospect of leading the line for Real Madrid against Barcelona, he voiced his contentment at life in the Spanish capital.

"I do not know, the decision [to select me] is not mine, but I'm happy and things are going well. I only think about resting, training and the next game," he concluded.

Kick-off at the Bernabeu on Saturday is scheduled for 22.00CET.
